How safe is the school, really?

Safety

Based on Niche’s student poll, 85% of the 47 Skyridge students who answered feel safe at school; news reports also show a student arrested in March 2019 after telling a therapist of shooting plans, a recorded assault involving football players that the district disciplined in 2020, and a student hurt at the SR-92 crosswalk by the school in September 2026.

March 2019An 18-year-old Skyridge student was arrested after he reportedly told his therapist he had planned a school shooting; police found him at home and later determined there was no additional threat. The principal emailed parents at 10 a.m. the next day that “Our students, faculty, and staff are all safe”, and a parent said she wished she had been told “hours and hours earlier”; the district did not directly answer when asked about its alert protocolLehi Free Press
October 2020A video showed a football player punching another student in the head. The district said the students involved were identified and that “discipline and consequences were determined”, including consequences for the school and the team; Lehi police opened an investigationFOX 13
September 2026A 15-year-old Skyridge student on an e-bike was struck by a turning truck in the crosswalk at SR-92 and Center Street and fractured his wrist. Lehi has designed a pedestrian bridge estimated at $8–9 million, which UDOT ranks among its top three priorities, with no timeline setLehi Free Press
On campus, 2026–27Visitors must check in at the office and the campus is closed to visitors from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; phones must be put away “bell-to-bell” during instructional time; in an emergency students go to the football field for roll callSchool handbook

The newest reports we found of violence or a threat at the school are from 2019 and 2020; the most recent event is the September 2026 crash, which happened at a crossing beside the campus and not inside it. Niche’s review summaries describe the campus as safe and name grade-level cliques as the main social concern, and some families report inconsistent communication from the front office; Niche writes them from student reviews, so treat them as impressions. We found no suspension or discipline figures published by the school or the state, so the front office, (385) 579-6560, is the reliable check on this year’s record.

How do students perform on state assessments in reading and math?

State Test Results

Based on SchoolDigger’s reading of Utah results, 55.2% of Skyridge’s Grade 10 students were proficient in English language arts, 39.0% in mathematics and 50.6% in science in 2025–26, and Niche gives 59% in reading and 34% in math for 2024–25.

The figures come from different tests, grades and years, so they do not compare directly, and all are third-party republications of state data, which is why this answer is Inferred. Mathematics is the weak point in every source, and it is the subject every STEM field we review depends on; reading and science sit near half of students.

What's the graduation rate, and how college-ready are graduates?

Graduation & College Readiness

Based on the Utah State Board of Education’s 2025 report, 92.3% of Skyridge’s 2025 cohort graduated in four years, against 92.7% for Alpine District and 89.8% for Utah, and Niche reports an ACT average of 26 from 647 students who gave it.

College credit while at school“Skyridge Concurrent Enrollment classes offer both high school and college credit.” The 2026–27 table lists Utah Valley University and Snow College courses in programming, cybersecurity, biotechnology, CAD and weldingSchool catalog

The state rate is the firmest figure here; the ACT and SAT averages come from students who chose to report them to Niche, so they describe the people who answered and not the class. We found no published list of the colleges graduates attend or the share who go on to a two- or four-year college, so how college-ready graduates are rests on credit-bearing coursework and test averages, not on destinations.

How qualified and stable are the teachers?

Teachers

Based on Niche, 27.1% of Skyridge’s teachers are in their first or second year, and the school has about 26 students for every teacher; we found no credential, licence or turnover figures, so how qualified the teachers are cannot be established from public sources.

Niche’s summary calls the teachers “caring and dedicated”; that is an impression, not data. The 27.1% is a signal of churn, and it is common at fast-growing schools, but the sources do not say how many of those teachers are new to teaching and how many are new to Skyridge. The 26-to-1 ratio counts every teacher against every student, so a lab or elective can be smaller; we found no section sizes. The front office, (385) 579-6560, and the department chairs are the reliable check on who teaches the courses a student wants.

Which future-critical STEM fields is this school genuinely strong in—and which ones are major gaps?

STEM Strengths & Gaps

Based on the school’s catalog, staff directory and news reports, Skyridge is strong in computer science, developing in robotics, biotechnology, Earth systems and advanced manufacturing, thin in AI and data, cybersecurity, clean energy and aerospace, and absent in battery storage. The overall score is 51/100, Developing.

Only computer science reaches the Excellent band, and five of the fifteen future-critical fields reach Level 3 or above. The grades rest on the catalog’s lists, which name Robotics, Engineering Principles and Biotechnology without descriptions, so a course may be deeper or shallower than its title. Evidence confidence is lowest for batteries (30) and highest for computer science (65).

Do students get access to advanced coursework, specialist electives and serious competitions?

Advanced Coursework

Based on the school’s catalog, Skyridge lists 22 Advanced Placement courses for college credit, including Calculus AB and BC, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Computer Science Principles, with AP Computer Science A listed beside the programming courses, and offers college courses on campus in programming, cybersecurity, biotechnology, CAD and welding; the only STEM-adjacent competition results we found are state SkillsUSA medals in 2026.

  • Advanced Placement: Art Drawing Portfolio, Art History, Biology, Calculus AB and BC, Chemistry, Chinese, Computer Science Principles, English Language and Literature, Environmental Science, European History, French, Japanese, Music Theory, Physics, Psychology, Spanish, Statistics, U.S. Government and Politics, U.S. History and World History: Modern, which are the 22 in the catalog’s college-credit list; AP Computer Science A (Java) is named with the programming courses. Niche counts 35 AP courses, so the sources differ, and no AP exam score or pass rate is published.
  • College credit on campus: Fundamentals of Biotechnology (BTEC 1010), Object Oriented Programming (CS 1410), Intro to Algorithms and Data Structures (CS 2420), Intro to Environmental Management (ENVT 1110), Scripting Essentials (DAGV 1700), Introduction to Geology with laboratory (GEO 1010 and 1015), Introduction to Forensic Science (CJ 1350) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (WELD 1020, Snow College) for the full year; 3D Architectural Modeling (EGDT 1020), Cybersecurity Essentials (CYBR 1700) and Medical Term and Functional Anatomy (HLSC 1300) in the fall; Fundamentals of Programming (CS 1400), Cybersecurity Essentials, Fundamentals of Technical Engineering Drawing (EGDT 1040), First Aid (HLSC 1200) and Introduction to Statistics (STAT 1040) in the spring.
  • Specialist electives: Robotics 1 and 2, Engineering Principles 1 and 2, 3D Printing Technology, Game Design and Game Development, Medical Forensics, Geology, Meteorology, Astronomy, Welding, Carpentry 1 and 2 (6 Utah Valley University credits) and Aviation.
  • Competitions: at the Utah SkillsUSA state competition in March 2026, Skyridge took first in Video News Production, second and third in Video Production, second in Cabinetmaking and third in Job Skill Demonstration, with 19 students competing; its HOSA record we found is from 2022. We found no robotics, Science Olympiad, CyberPatriot or mathematics competition result.

Most of these courses are listed for Grades 10–12 or 11–12, so freshmen reach them a year or two later. The catalog gives descriptions for the programming, cybersecurity and 3D printing courses but not for Robotics, Engineering Principles or Biotechnology, and the school publishes no club list, so competitions we did not find may exist.

How strong is this school in AI, data science and computer science compared with other schools?

AI, Data & Computer Science

Based on the school’s catalog, Skyridge teaches computing through a four-course Computer Programming sequence, AP Computer Science A in Java, AP Computer Science Principles, game design and development and IT courses, with AP Statistics for data, and lists no AI, machine-learning or data-science course; we grade computer science Excellent (4.0 out of 5) and AI and data Weak (2.0).

No artificial-intelligence, machine-learning or data-science course appears in the lists we could read, the HOSA and SkillsUSA entries we found are not computing events, and we found no computing competition result from 2023 to 2026. The catalog describes the programming courses but not Robotics or Engineering Principles, and we found no teacher biographies, so how the courses are taught is not on record.

Does the school expose students to biotechnology, biomedical engineering and the life sciences beyond ordinary biology?

Biotechnology & Life Sciences

Based on the school’s catalog, Skyridge offers a full-year Biotechnology course with Utah Valley University credit (BTEC 1010), beside Medical Forensics, Medical Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, Emergency Medical Responder and AP Biology, and a HOSA chapter; we found no biotechnology competition, research project or laboratory-technique record, and grade biotechnology Developing at 3.0 out of 5.

What a family should ask about directly

  • Skyridge serves Grades 9–12, but the 2026–27 catalog lists most of its STEM courses for Grades 10–12 or 11–12: Computer Programming 1, 3D Printing Technology and Game Design start in Grade 10, and Cyber: Security, Computer Programming 4 and Carpentry in Grade 11. Ask what a freshman can take in computing, engineering and science, and how a Grade 9 student reaches the Grade 10 courses.
  • Robotics 1 and 2 and Engineering Principles 1 and 2 appear in the catalog’s lists by name only, with no description, grade level or teacher, and no robotics club, team or competition result was found. Ask whether the courses run this year, how many sections there are, what students build, and whether a robotics team exists.
  • Cybersecurity is one semester (Cyber: Security, Grades 11–12), AI and data rest on AP Statistics, Statistics 1040 and the programming courses with no AI or data-science course, and battery storage has no course, club or record at all — treat it as absent, not just thin. Ask which computing courses run this year beyond the programming sequence.
  • Mathematics is the backbone of every field here, and the state results are lower than the course list suggests: SchoolDigger reports 39.0% of Grade 10 students proficient in mathematics in 2025–26 (31.6% in 2023–24), against AP Calculus AB and BC, AP Statistics and Statistics 1040 on offer. Ask how the school supports students who arrive behind in mathematics and how many reach calculus.
  • Skyridge is large: about 2,483 students, 26 students for every teacher in 2025–26, and Niche reports 27.1% of teachers in their first or second year. Ask how large the elective and concurrent-enrollment sections are, who teaches them, and how many sections of Biotechnology, Cyber: Security and Programming 4 run.
  • The catalog says concurrent enrollment comes from four institutions (Snow College, Utah State University, Utah Valley University and Weber State University), and it lists the concurrent-enrollment courses by semester. Ask which of them run in both semesters, what each costs a family, who is eligible, and how the credits transfer, because the school’s own pages say little beyond the catalog.
  • The school’s homepage, its October 2026 newsletter and its handbook name no STEM club, team or competition result, and the only STEM-adjacent entries we found were state SkillsUSA medals in 2026 (video production, cabinetmaking) and a HOSA record from 2022. Ask for the list of STEM clubs and what each entered in the last three years.
  • The path dots show how far each field reaches across Grades 9–12; the grade in which each course is taken is mostly published as a range (10–12 or 11–12), so they mark the stage only.

SchoolCash

SchoolCash is the new financial program. Parents should have received an email from KEV Group/SchoolCash Online to register for a SchoolCash Online account. Students’ accounts are now available to view. Fees will be available to pay by semester.

Fee Waivers

If you are experiencing financial hardship and are unable to pay your child’s school fees, we may be able to help. Please complete a Fee Waiver Application and submit it, along with the required supporting documentation, to the Finance Office. Once your application has been reviewed by a school administrator, you will be notified of the decision.

Prior to parking pass pick up, students must complete the contract (Google form), pay for the pass, and pick up the parking pass in the finance office, 8 AM - 3 PM. Students bring their valid driver’s license and receipt of payment.

Blocksi

Blocksi is district provided software that allows parents to monitor and set hour restrictions for your own student(s) outside of school hours. Parents can create a login and can make adjustments to their student’s screen time and more.
